Sophia Schullan highlights our daily use of food tools, that goes completely unnoticed, to then present us pieces that disrupt our convictions of table manners and give us the opportunity to rethink the way in which we eat.
"Don’t eat with your fingers.
Never speak with your mouth full. And, use that napkin!
We all know the rules when it comes to eating.
These objects change the game. Say goodbye to your
usual cutlery and feast like an animal."
Suckle milk like a kitten
Slurp spaghetti like a carp
Skin oranges like a lion
Be fed like a baby bird
Gobble cereals like a dog
We use tools every day. Most of them are so well designed that we hardly ever notice them - except if they don't work as expected. That gives them the power to interrupt us, make us wonder, think and giggle.
This set of feasting instruments was exhibited in the "Eat" Exhibition of the BIOTOPIA Nature Museum in Munich 2019.
